In 2002, SMART were successful in having sensitive lands taken into public ownership. Since then a new heritage park known as the Pilgrim’s Park, a car park and a river recreation area have been developed. The park has been planted with all native trees and shrubs and has picnic benches adjacent to the stream. We hope that this area will be further developed for recreational purposes as funding becomes available.
