In 1998, SMART – in conjunction with the Irish Heart Foundation, Coillte, Waterways Ireland, Carlow Co. Council and BNS Rural Development – installed the first rural Slí na Sláinte loop walk (6.27km) in the country. This scenic walk starts at the graveyard, goes down to the Quay, along the Barrow towpath, through Bahana Wood and back on to the Graiguenamanagh/St. Mullins road to St. Mullins. This walk is a recommended for daytime only.
